The LEAF Charter School is an innovative public high school in Alstead, NH
The LEAF Charter School is a charter high school approved by the State Department of Education in January 2016. LEAF will accept incoming freshmen in the Fall of 2017. Our proposed site is Mole Hill Theater in Alstead, NH. Charter schools are tuition-free public schools that are open to all New Hampshire students.
Stay tuned for upcoming events! We’ll hold some public info meetings around the region later this spring. In the meantime, LEAF Charter School pamphlets are available in local libraries and some area stores. A full copy of our proposal, including curriculum and admissions information, is available by going to this page: Our Charter.
Our vision is a community of learners inspired to create, collaborate, and contribute, both in and out of school settings, for their entire lives. We hope to “cultivate the experimental mind,” as Piaget says, and “lead the child to construct for himself the tools that will transform him from the inside.” (To Understand is To Invent)
The mission of the LEAF School is to provide expanded educational opportunities for all students, through an intellectually rigorous STEAM (Science-Technology-Engineering-Arts-Math) curriculum and strong partnerships with creative professionals. Our name embodies the major tenets of the charter:
- Learning from Local Leaders
- Experiential Education
- Arts Integration & Academic Achievement
- Freedom & Flexibility
